Meteora, which means "suspended in the air", is a rock formation in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second in importance only to Mount Athos. The six monasteries are built on immense natural pillars and hill-like rounded boulders that dominate the local area. It is located near the town of Kalambaka at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains. It is 4 hours away from Athens and 2 and a half hours by car from Thessaloniki. Meteora is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The best way to visit Meteora is to stay in the area overnight because the monasteries usually close around 5pm. We recommend going to Meteora in the morning and visiting 2-3 monasteries (out of 6 active). We can see the rest in the afternoon and enjoy a spectacular view at sunset.

Even though Meteora is completely out of the way from well-known places like Olympia and Delphi, it is definitely worth a visit. You will not regret it, as the views will be etched in your mind forever.

A must visit place where you can feel divine energy and mystical experience you will never forget, regardless of whether you are religious or not. Without any doubt, this is the favorite spot for Tours in Pride. An escape out of this world!
